China Policy Barometer

Welcome to the China Policy Barometer Survey (CPB)!

China Policy Barometer Survey is an annual online opinion poll that asks Chinese citizens what they think about the major policies debates facing the nation.

CPB respondents are recruited using an Internet-based convenience sample. As a result respondents tend to be younger, more educated, and more affluent than the average population. To correct for sampling bias the data is weighted to reflect population averages based on the national census.

The first wave of the CPB was initiated in 2016. Survey data for 2016-2021 is available. Those interested in the survey data can consult the available materials provided on this site, and request further details of data excerpts using the Data Inquiry form.
